I don't know about you but I'm proud to be from Luverne. It's a great place to live and have a business and raise a family. Every once and a while something happens to reinforce that sense of pride in our community. I witnessed that Friday night on a football field. I suppose you could say that every come from behind win is like that. We always root for the underdog. More so when we're the underdog. But this felt different. It seemed like one of those movies, you know, the kind where the dramatic music starts playing in the background as the tide turns and the good guys pull ahead to a victory. It was like that in the 4th quarter when the Luverne defense made a goal line stand against a powerful JCC offense; an offense that seemed to have no trouble advancing the ball earlier in the game. I thought to myself, "Even if the home team doesn't win, they can still be proud because they put up a valiant fight." But the Cardinals were not done. Two possessions later our boys drove 50 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown with 8 seconds remaining in the game. It was with determination and persistence the the game was won.
