Jeanne L. Juhl
Jeanne Lois Juhl My mother passed away on Easter Sunday at the Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne. The funeral was Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne. Her life history follows: Jeanne was born to George and Agnes (Johnson) Edmonds on Aug. 8, 1921 in Salem, South Dakota. She graduated with the Luverne High School class of 1939 and the South Dakota State University class of 1943 with a degree in home economics. She was known as "Miss Edmonds" in classrooms in South Dakota and southwest Minnesota until she became "Mrs. Juhl" on Dec. 29, 1948.
Her husband and son returned her life-long devotion by maintaining a 'round the clock vigil at her bedside at the Luverne Hospice Cottage where she died following a two-year battle with cancer and a week-long struggle to leave her family behind. Jeanne was a devoted wife, a doting mother, an encouraging mother-in-law, an indulgent grandmother, a loving sister and a true friend. There was no greater treat than to be a guest at Jeanne's table. Family, strangers and friends could often sum up the fare in one word, "Wow." lessed by having shared her life are her husband, Bob; sister, Jan Davis, of Naples, Florida; son Jim; daughter-in-law Brenda; and three grandkids, Emilia Jean, Joseph Robert and Katherine Ann who became connoisseurs of fine home baked cookies, pies, cakes, rolls and bars under their grandmother's direction. They will also miss her Sunday dinners (no lumps in the mashed potatoes), her wit, the cut-throat bridge games, shopping, and getting exactly what they wanted for Christmas. Jeanne was as proud of her family as they are of her. Jeanne was a 50-year member of First Presbyterian Church, Luverne. She served as an elder, taught Sunday School and cherished the friendship of the women of Mary Circle. Throughout her life she enjoyed visiting and traveling with her sister and brother-in-law Jan and Gus Davis. She enjoyed gardening, golf, bridge, entertaining, wintering in Florida, and an extensive list of spoiled pets. By Jim Juhl at 2008-04-01 16:14 | Jim Juhl's blog
