Family Portrait Tips

Don't Let These Mistakes Ruin Your Family Portrait!

  • Mistake #1 - The Wrong Clothing This can be such a big mistake. Mom puts hours and hours of organizing the famlily portrait. It's a stressful task. Getting everyone to agree to a time is probably the hardest part. Don't stop there. The wrong clothing can destroy a family portrait. If everyone wears their favorite shirt you might just as well not even go through with it.
At Myhre Studio, we spend time with each client going over clothing colors and styles that fit your family's personality and make everyone look their best.
  • Mistake #2 - Not Taking Your Family Portrait At All. Today. Right now. That's when everyone can be in your family portait. Don't wait till it's too late.
It usally happens years after I create a family portrait. I run into one of the family members and they tell me how much they cherish their family portrait now that they've lost a loved one.
  • Mistake #3 - Waiting to Pick Out Your Images The best time to pick out your images is when everyone is home; right after your portrait session! Don't choose a photographer that makes you wait a week or more to see your portraits. That's too late.
Picking from the different poses is half the fun of a family portrait. There's always a few funny ones were the baby is crying or Aunt Suzi is laughing. Those are great family memories.
At Myhre Studio, we have a Projection Room where everyone can help choose the best poses from the session. Just minutes after your session we'll be choosing your favorite images, plus you have the advantage of having a professional to help you pick out the best ones. We're even right across the street from a family resturant so the kids can go have pizza.
